    Silicom Bypass Switch

Eliminate the fear of network disconnection

Bypass switches can prevent inline transparent mode security equipment, such as NGFW, IPS, WAF, DDoS, SSL, DPI, from software instability, crashes, power outages, and maintenance. The network is disconnected. Even if an HA architecture has been deployed, there is still the problem of not being able to automatically switch lines. In order to avoid being invaded by hackers or worms, enterprises need to deeply inspect each packet and confirm that it is safe before allowing the packet to pass through. This complicated work consumes a lot of CPU performance of the device, and can cause a large number of enterprise network disconnections. Most of the reasons are due to security equipment software crashes or human operation factors, rather than power outages, and these can be solved by deploying bypass switches. Outages can cause immediate disaster for businesses and even loss of revenue. The function of the bypass switch can minimize the risk of disconnection.

    • IBS (1 Gbps)
    • IS40 (1/10/40 Gbps)
    • IS100 (40/100 Gbps)

The biggest advantage of the Silicom bypass switch is that in addition to sending monitoring heartbeat packets (Heartbeat) and monitoring the security host for bypass switching, it also monitors the health status of the bypass switch itself, including crashes or power outages. Bypass switching is also possible without becoming a point of failure in the network.

Silicom bypass network card (Bypass NIC)

Many transparent-mode information security tools today are sold as software and installed on general-purpose servers. Compared with dedicated hardware, the lower cost advantage is more attractive to end customers. The Silicom Bypass network card can switch the network to a bypass state when a server failure occurs, so that server failure problems, including power outages and crashes, will not affect the network. Bypass network card provides three modes of automatic switching, including:

    • bypass
    • Inline
    • Disconnect.

Interface speeds available include 1/10/40/100 Gbps, copper or fiber, 2 ports to 6 ports.
